De-Young International School has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving institution committed to academic excellence, character development, and future leadership. With a legacy rooted in strong values and consistent progress, the school continues to shape young minds for meaningful impact in society.
Our Humble Beginnings
Founded on January 10, 1988, by Mr. B.J. Onyemah, De-Young International School began in a single classroom with just three staff members and four students. Despite its modest start, the vision was clear — to build a generation of enlightened and empowered individuals.
With the guiding motto “Education is Power,” the foundation was laid for a future of growth and excellence.
Growth and Transformation
In 1992, the Lagos State Ministry of Education officially recognized the school, leading to a transition in name to De-Young Nursery & Basic School and the adoption of a new motto: “Knowledge is Power.”
Despite challenges, including relocation to Olu-Odo Village and infrastructural limitations, the school continued to thrive under strong leadership and determination.
Building a Reputation for Excellence
The school later moved to No. 1 Muyibi Ipaye Street, Aga, Ikorodu, Lagos, where it established a strong reputation for academic success and moral discipline.
Students consistently excelled in examinations, gained admission into prestigious Federal Government Colleges, and performed outstandingly in competitions. The Lagos State Ministry of Education recognized the institution as an “A” rated school, further strengthening its credibility.

Today, De-Young Schools operates from its permanent site at:
No. 22 Oluwakemi Street, Off Ikorodu Club Road, Aga, Ikorodu, Lagos State
With over 300 students and more than 30 dedicated staff members, the school continues to grow as a center of excellence driven by passion, care, and commitment.
Expanding the Vision
In 2006, the school expanded by establishing De-Young Secondary School, now known as De-Young International College, with the motto:
“Stand Firm in God.”
The college began with 12 staff members and has since grown significantly, providing a strong academic and moral foundation for students.
Beyond the Classroom
Students at De-Young Schools experience holistic development through academics and extracurricular activities. They participate in competitions such as Cowbell Mathematics and Spelling Bee, while also excelling in sports, including achievements at state level competitions.
These experiences help develop confident, well-rounded individuals prepared for future success.
